Artist @_tina_lechner_ analyzes the beauty and vulnerabilities of the female form with her carefully constructed costumes that she photographs to create enigmatic—and sometimes even haunting—portraits. We meet the Austrian multi-hyphenate. “My self-made costumes and their themes are closely connected to the female body. As a woman, I explore the specific needs, boundaries, and vulnerabilities that affect women,” she tells contributor @becky_sunshine in the first print issue of @thegrandtouristpodcast. “For me, the combination of vulnerability and strength can only be authentically expressed through working with women: isolating, protective, and body-augmenting prosthetics, props, and costumes in the tension between utopia and dystopia.” Read the full story online, and sign up for The Grand Tourist Curator newsletter, links in bio.

The Right Woman For The Job Few architects can claim to have made a lasting impact on New York’s urban landscape. Elizabeth Diller is one of them. On the occasion of a major monograph, she reviews her serendipitous journey through art and design with The Grand Tourist. Artist Lee Mary Manning documents her environment through photographic assemblages. @diller_scofidio_renfro Creative direction/design @matthiasernstberger @meandfriendsnyc Art direction/design @philipphubert Photography and assemblages by @leemarymanning. @thegrandtouristpodcast

One of my favorite projects from the archives—Fresh off the boat in the early 2000’s in New York City, my first trip southwest to the desert of Arizona with @stefansagmeister in a rental convertible, to work on one of the first of what would become many “things Stefan has learned in his life so far.” “Trying To Look Good Limits My Life,” designed and realized by @stefansagmeister and @matthiasernstberger photographed by @francoisrobertphotography in Tucson, Arizona. A series of five billboards first shown at the Biennale Art Grandeur Nature 2004 in Saint-Denis, France. Included in the book “Things I Have Learned In My Life So Far” by @stefansagmeister published by @abramsbooks 2008 “The title of this work (and its content) is among the few things I have learned in my life so far. Broken up into 5 parts Trying/To Look/Good/Limits/My Life and displayed in sequence as typographic billboards in Paris, they work like a sentimental greeting card left in the park.” – Stefan Sagmeister

As a child, “I generally drew women. I was obsessed with women. I was obsessed with how women looked, how they walked. I was interested in my mom, her clothes, her makeup, her friends, how they spoke to each other, how they sat,” says @erdem.moralioglu of @erdem. “Often my mom would have coffee with her friends. And I was fascinated by the female.” Order Issue 01 of The Grand Tourist online now. Link in bio. Photographed by @dimahohlovstudio. Still lifes by @danielcanophoto.
