An illustration I did a few years ago for a seminal work on the history of Wimbledon called Standing in Line by the late (and wonderful) Ben Chatfield, of the Duchess Kent who died today, touchingly consoling a devastated #jananovotna when she lost the final in 1993. She properly sobbed her heart out and the Duchess, who was supposed to be handing out the trophy to her vanquisher, instead hugged Novotna. The line judge didn’t rush to the scene with a brolly, this is artist’s license and very silly. When she wasn’t handing out the prizes at #wimbledon she was a music teacher at a primary school near Hull, which is unusual for a member of the British Royal Family. #duchessofkent #brolly

Call me petty but I do find it somewhat intrusive having an advertisement 20cms from my nose for a three hour flight. Thankfully I discovered that you could slip out the coke advert, draw on the back of it, then replace it in the slot! Suddenly row 30 became an art gallery! - and an added bonus I was able to air my grievances towards the man in the window seat for closing the blind. @easyjet #greeksalad #grievances
Rather wonderfully the pastry chef on the Newhaven-Dieppe ferry was none other than Ho Chi Minh of Vietnamese revolutionary fame! #hochiminh
A sparkling seascape on the beach just outside Newhaven. The boat in the background is the Dieppe-Newhaven ferry which a couple of weeks ago celebrated its 200th anniversary of ferrying. In my next post you will see an unexpected employee of said ferry who worked as pastry chef in 1913. #newhaven #calippo

For anyone suffering sudden #wimbledon withdrawals I have compiled a definitive set of all the tennissy games I could think of apart from padel or pickle neither of which I have forehand knowledge of. The final slide is a photo of my bedroom curtains which I skilfully knocked up in a single evening from the actual woollen felt that tennis balls are made from. #tennis #balls
Exciting to see my drawings brought to life then put to work directing people around all the top notch tasty titbits teas and coffee on the ground floor at @fortnums Thanks to @rose_bailey and the highly skilled team of craftspeople for making this happen.
Well it’s happy 21st birthday to my hoover, Henry, green version. How do you know this ?? You may ask - the reason, dear Instagrammer is that 21 years ago, before we were glued to technology, I hand drew every single thing I bought for a year. It was completely honest and unabridged. Annoyingly, even though I’d turned every purchase I’d made into art, my accountant refused to allow any of it as tax deductible. On the spread where the young Henry pops up, I clearly went on a cheap toy buying bender in Stroud. I have no idea why or what happened to any of the plastic creatures, but impressively H Hoover is going strong, as are the tart tins. #henryhoover #anodisedaluminium
Crumbs from a coconut macaroon on an old Portmeirion side plate. The De Beauvoir Deli in London’s gritty East End makes these exceptional coconut confections from which the sticky crumbs are here depicted. They are unquestionably the best coconut macaroon available anywhere. The plate is inherited from my grandparents and is a sixties design called Totem from the Portmeirion pottery in the Italian village of that name in Wales. @debeauvoirdeli @ukportmeirion #deBourgeois

Some bun fun puns I done for @birleybakery in London’s up and coming Chelsea district. Pretty tricky job as I had to photograph the buns AND then eat them. Exquisite bun and choc cookery by Monsieur Chef @vincent.zanardi
