First let me just say, I’m so sorry for OUR loss. This is the second legend I’ve lost and the first one I ever was thissss close to. This is a big one. But I know what to do with this.. information, now. The information you get innately from experience. Wisdom they call it. 🙇🏿‍♀️ I wanna express how happy I am to have witnessed Chelsea live her life as fearlessly as she did. No corners were cut. Everything had to be quality. And she had to make it happen now. I was being taught to do it scared, do it sad, do it depressed. To do it sick. These are things we would say. “Do it sick”. She added that one. Chelsea was sick for 5 years. (I want to note that we do not have an official final cause of death so we don’t have the answers to that FYI. A lot of you keep asking me what happened. I wish I could explain JUST and EXACTLY how it feels to be asked that, at all. 🙇🏿‍♀️ But yea..) She did have a rare form of diabetes. That came with a lot. But she would do it ALL… THROUGH it all. I watched it happen. Watched her make ways. Take ideas from her head and make it tangible. She would do it dizzy. & That’s otherworldly. I got the call that she was gone. Passed in her sleep. Thank, God it was in ever-loving arms. I just remember feeling like my shock wasn’t genuine. I didn’t believe it. Didn’t want to. Please. Say something else. Punchline never made it out. But I knew I had to believe it. We didn’t like to joke like that together since, Chelsea, was ill. Needless to say, the night was sleepless. I’m happy you’re not in pain anymore, physically and emotionally. I’m happy you were figuring it out while you were here. Im happy that I loved you, and still do. I’m happy no trial was ever able to change that. You prolly know more than me Chels but my life is never going to be the same. For some life changes just for that season. For some of us, there is no “back to regular programming”.

RIP Chelsea Reject ❤️🕊️ Chelsea didn’t get her flowers in her time. She embodied the spirit of underground hip-hop, being a constant advocate for herself and her art. You could find her outside concert venues offering a joint and striking up a conversation, connecting artists she thought could collaborate, and riding her bike all around New York. I remember one time I was at a dumpling spot in the city and I bumped into Chelsea and T’Nah. We sat together to eat and chatted about music, life, and health. Chelsea and T’Nah were attached at the hip, and I was honored to help plan their “Rogue” project release party to raise money for their trip to Japan, where they connected with locals. It seemed wonderful. Chelsea was hip-hop to the core. For more than a decade she maintained a steady release schedule, working with old faces and up-and-comers alike. For the last 3 years we have held an annual 4/20 event to open up the back yard for the spring/summer season. This year we are collaborating with Chelsea’s dearest friend and partner in music @_tnah_ to bring out a lineup that she would’ve assembled for a cypher of her own. Come through and light one up in her memory, be in community with others who are mourning her loss, share stories/memories, and celebrate who she was!
