Remember when I used to blog on the internet? Well⦠Iām doing it again for giggles, eleven years after shutting my blog, except this time Iām calling it āwritingā so it sounds more respectable. Apparently ājournalingā is cheaper than therapy, so here we are. Iāve posted two things already on Substack. Itās basically me with less Facetune, more words, and no algorithm telling me Iām obsolete. Link is on my bio. Thank you in advance for subscribing! See you there! ā¤ļø
PTA Meeting, here we come! āØ
Look Number 9. After the @Balenciagaās 54th Haute Couture show, I visited the haute couture salon and tried on @KimKardashianās dress - the ivory duchess satin number she wore on the runway. On the surface, itās just a slip. But couture never hides in simplicity. The fabric aloneāliquid satin with a weight that moves like waterā sculpted on her body to drape without a single ripple out of place. Lace edging was hand-stitched, every millimeter considered, every seam pressed and re-pressed until it whispered perfection. The look was inspired by Elizabeth Taylor in Cat on a Hot Tin RoofāHollywood languor, reborn through @Demnaās discipline. What looks effortless is, in truth, the work of countless hours and hands. Wearing it felt less like putting on a dress, and more like stepping into a story: old Hollywood, Demnaās vision, and the quiet devotion of couture ateliers. #Balenciaga #KimKardashian #Demna #HauteCouture
Out of Africa isdatchu? They say: wear neutrals, blend in, disappear into the bush. Beige, khaki, olive ā the safari uniform. Supposedly so the animals wonāt notice you. But hereās the thing: I truly regret it. I wish I had brought more colour. Because out on the rangelands, the world isnāt beige. Itās the red earth, the green acacia, the gold savannah. The locals donāt mute themselves to merge with the land; they celebrate individuality with colour, adornment, and self-expression. Think Maasai shukas blazing scarlet against the horizon, Samburu beadwork catching the sun. And the animals? They move through it all, largely unbothered. Many donāt even see colour the way we do. To them, what matters is shape, scent, and movement ā not whether your shirt is tan or turquoise. Out of curiosity ā who decided tourists should fade into dust? Some say itās practical. But sometimes I wonder if itās also cultural ā a holdover from old colonial safari traditions where visitors were meant to look apart from locals, not like them. If I could do it again, Iād pack joy, pigment, pattern. Iād let colour tell its own story against the landscapes. Because out here, colour doesnāt just belong ā itās life itself. ā¤ļø #Kenya #Safari #Outfits

Halfway there @declanchan
Until the last light leaves my eyes at the end of my days, the things I have seen the past week will live in me ā vivid, unforgotten, and kept like treasure. Kenya, I love you. š„¹š š°šŖ

Over the years, Iāve been fortunate to receive countless beautiful thingsāwrapped in ribbons, tucked in boxes, treasured for a season. But here in Africa, Iāve discovered that the most meaningful offerings in life arenāt the kind you can hold in your hands. Theyāre the ones you liveāthose rare experiences that live on long after theyāve ended. In the magical sanctuary of Borana Conservancy, Iāve watched elephants move like old souls, zebras vanish into the horizon, and the vast rangelands spilling into bushlandsāa wild mosaic of open plains and tangled thickets, stretching as far as the eye can see. Iāve spent a delightful amount of time with remarkable, gracious people, strangers and loved ones, from the nearby and the distantāeach carrying a wealth of stories, lessons, and perspectives shaped by lives very different from my own. Their generosity wasnāt measured in material things but in something far rarer: their knowledge. Theyāve shared histories of this land, tales from worlds Iāve yet to see, and wisdom distilled from years of living fully. To be trusted with that is no small thing; when someone parts with their knowledge, they give you a piece of themselves, and it stays with you. Somewhere along the way, I also discovered an unexpected love affair with horse ridingātrusting these powerful, gentle animals as we moved together across the open plains. Bryan Yambao, Equestrian. š¤£š¤£š¤£ Can you imagine⦠the next time someone asks me oh Bryan whatās your favorite hobby? And Iād be like⦠āoh I love horseback ridingā š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£ Even now, while Iām still here, I can feel this place folding itself into my story⦠moments I know will never fade. This journey, made possible through friendship, generosity and kindness, has given me more than landscapes and wildlife⦠itās given me connection, self-discovery, and experiences I didnāt know I needed. Thank you. Some treasures outlast everything else. #Kenya #Safari
