When @VogueChina asked me to photograph eight of the country’s most iconic supermodels, I felt a deep responsibility — not just to make something visually strong, but to reflect something real. These women share over a decade of friendship and history. I wanted to build a story that honored that bond — something intimate, emotional, and true to the way they move through the world together. In the three days of work we based the concept on the in-between spaces: dressing rooms, glam rooms, quiet corridors. The moments before the curtain rises, when you’re waiting, breathing, sharing silence and glances and laughter. That’s where the real magic is. Staging large groups can easily feel stiff or forced — but not with them. Every lean, glance, and hand reaching out came from instinct and emotion. I gave them the frame, but they brought it to life with the rhythm of people who truly know one another. Which one is your favourite from this cover editorial for @voguechina and why ? What I try to capture is what I feel on set when I stop trying so hard. You arrive with a plan, of course — the frames you want, the scenes you imagined — but the best moments sneak up on you. Someone’s fixing their hair, zoning out, thinking about nothing, and suddenly there’s this quiet, raw beauty. No performance. Just them. . The set @sisi_zq was like a dream — these beautiful, layered spaces where I could disappear and let the women just be. And somehow, that felt the most honest. It was such an honor to shoot the 20th anniversary cover of @VogueChina — and such a personal one too. Having Chinese roots, this was more than just a shoot — in a way it felt like discovering, reevaluating and reconnecting with a dormant, yet powerful part of myself. Spending time with this team — the editors , the models, the crew — you could really feel the years of friendship and trust between them. The way they moved together, laughed, leaned into each other — it wasn’t performative, it wasn’t staged. I just happened to be there with a camera and capture their friendship - how magical is that! This image was the last of the day and it really ignited us and gave all the energy back we were firing out through the entire day - @sydney_sweeney ignited the room and left on the high and beautiful note. Shooting Sydney Sweeney for @WSJMag was a study in transformation. She’s the kind of collaborator who catches an idea mid-air and twists it into something unexpected—her mind and body moving like they’re unfolding a story in real time. One moment she’s all luminous presence, the next she slips into shadow, something darker and harder to name. This vision came to life with the brilliant @WillowLindley and @Matteomobilio at WSJ, whose bold instincts drove it further, and with the legendary @TonneGood—an icon whose mastery in styling is unmatched. Honestly, i am still buzzing from this unforgettable day shooting @Doechii for the cover @britishvogue - It’s hard to put into words what an honor it was to work with someone so iconic, so intelligent, and so stunning — inside and out. Being trusted to capture even one facet of her beauty for such an iconic platform felt like a real privilege. My favorite part of the day was the way the whole team moved together — like a wave. Everyone brought their A-game, and somehow, through a mix of intuition, great communication, and a lot of trust, we made a complex vision come to life so effortlessly and in so many different ways. I have nothing but admiration for @JawaraW hair sculptures, @iamJamalScott sensitivity for color and @Stella_Greenspan vision of the strong feminine. We laughed so much in between takes — those side conversations that somehow keep you grounded while doing something surreal. And through it all, @Doechii -you never stop! Your energy is boundless, your resilience inspiring. Even when things got tough or technical, you keep pushing forward with this unapologetic joy and power that made its way into every single frame we took. Just feeling very grateful. Which one is your absolute favourite from this series and why? Would love to hear your thoughts as always… Wandering through the debris of my own subconscious, I step over the ruins of thoughts left unfinished, of selves I once was. Every corner holds a whisper, a sliver of something I used to be — a gesture, a gaze, a wound wrapped in paper. I peel back layers like old skin. I find teeth made of pain. Claws sharpened by memory.
