I’ve been following Song Ah’s career, also known as @vanilla_canola, as it’s taken off like a rocket. She’s graced major magazine covers, walked the most prestigious runways, and been the face of countless campaigns. Getting the chance to photograph her wasn’t easy. Her schedule was packed with brand deals, fashion shows, and cover shoots, but her agent carved out just enough time for us between her travels from Sweden to Korea. For this shoot I wanted to see her through a new lens. Song Ah’s sharp cheekbones and commanding stare have become iconic. Her shaggy bangs have defined magazine covers around the world. But with the right team in hair, makeup, and styling, I wanted to bring out another side of her. One that felt just as powerful but more sensual and stripped down. She’s the kind of model who can pull off any look, wear any designer, and embody any creative vision. But this Vogue shoot wasn’t about fashion leading the story. It was about her. Her presence. Her ability to transform without ever losing that quiet strength. The clothes didn’t wear her. The makeup never overshadowed her. Even her signature bangs took a backseat. It was all about her essence. Undeniable, powerful, unforgettable.
