A Road Diary: “the Feeling I get when I look to the West”
Dear Ingvild and Connor, It’s hard to know where to begin, perhaps it all started that January evening, when you asked how I’d imagine a dress for your wedding day. Since then, I’ve tried to shape the feeling of your love into fabric, form, and feeling. Connor, this began with you, because of our friendship, and the deep respect I have for your vision and your work. But as the dress took shape and I came to know Ingvild more deeply, piece by piece, we crafted a silhouette that is uniquely hers. Silk satin and chiffon became your shared stories. They carried your dreams: a wide and open future in standing beside the one you love unhidden and unafraid. The crown of knotted leather threads, silver pearls, and draped chain speaks to your strength, Ingvild. To the way you walk into a room and how light bends around you. This dress is a memory made forward. A quiet rebellion. A celebration. A promise. Thank you for letting me dream with you. Grateful to my dear team and the entire atelier SG

Dear Ian, When we first met a year ago, you were touring Europe with The Cult and passed through Milan on a warm day at the end of July. That day, you passed by the studio, and we spent the entire afternoon talking - about past lives, the road, and what lies ahead. Since then, I’ve been working on a uniform for you - a kimono, a piece of stage-wear meant to endure over time, to travel with you, and to age alongside you. There’s deep symbolism woven throughout the garment, which I’ll share another time. I’m incredibly proud to have created this for you, Ian. It’s no secret how much your character and your art - throughout your entire career - have influenced me and impacted my work.
