New Podcast Project: “What does coffee mean to you?”
Today was the first day of the coffee festival with @aprilcoffeecph in Guangzhou. Thank you to everyone who braved the heat to try our coffee. See you over the weekend.
One day of reflection and organising after the Swedish Barista Championship and now it’s time for the first part of the @aprilcoffeecph CHINA TOUR 2025.
I am back in Copenhagen from a weekend in Stockholm where I competed in the Swedish Barista Championship and took first place. I am thankful for the opportunity to represent Sweden in my third World Barista Championship later this year in Milan. This year, I chose to represent with two (traditionally) washed processed coffees. To my knowledge, this marks the first time in a long time that a national competition has been won using exclusively washed processed coffee. I am looking forward to bringing the next evolution of my presentation to the world stage on my journey towards reclaiming coffee flavor. Special thanks to @scasweden for organizing the event, the judges, volunteers, and the other competitors. It’s clear that the Swedish competitors are getting better and will be a force to be reckoned with at future World Championships. I worked with two different coffees. Firstly a washed processed Gesha from the @fincasophia farm in Panama and My favourite coffee of the season is a washed processed SL28 variety from the Kamavindi Estate in Kenya. Special thanks to team @mamespecialtycoffee for teaming up for my espresso serving of the washed processed Gesha from @fincasophia that was sourced and roasted by them.
Light presentation practice followed by a proper sensory practice round. It doesn't matter if it looks and sounds good if it doesn't taste good…
Building @aprilcoffeecph from a brand perspective has always been about twisting and turning details inside out until we get them right. This year I am doing a Coffee Tour in China and together with @shmaxi69 I am making sure we do things right. I am bringing this limited design box exclusively for the trips. #yearofthesnake
Morning shift at @spcoffeecph - @aprilcoffeecph ‘s little brother - brewing up naturally processed Rubi from the Esperança farm in Brazil and washed processed Caturra & Catuai from the Volcán Azul farm in Costa Rica.
I continue my new Podcast Journey and this time I sat down with @mr.thomaslykke cofounder of @oeo_studio - a Copenhagen based design studio defined by Compelling Minimalism. Thomas and I had our first encounter a few years back when he a bit randomly stumbled upon the first @aprilcoffeecph store project. Thomas trained as a fashion designer in Copenhagen and San Francisco before working as Interiors Editor at Wallpaper magazine from 2000 to 2003. He then launched OEO Studio in 2003 with Anne‑Marie Buemann. The episode is scheduled to launch in October and I am looking forward to sharing another perspective on creativity and value creation. *the audio recorded in this video is not the official podcast audio.
Roasting day at @aprilcoffeecph and @spcoffeecph. Updated profile work and backup roasting for the upcoming Barista Championship.
