I saw a shell resting on the ocean floor. I dove after it—too deep, misjudged it. On the way back up, I felt that I wouldn’t make it. I looked up. The sun was cutting through the water, beautiful and distant. I’ve always loved that view from below. Then came the moment when water should’ve filled my lungs. But it didn’t. I breathed. Underwater. Slowly. Calmly. Bubbles surrounded me like a quiet reminder: you’re okay. I swam up, not gasping, not panicking, just breathing, like nothing was wrong. And the fear in that dream? It was louder than anything I face awake. But maybe that’s the point.

This Opener was a perfect example of me mastering work-life balance, something I’ve learned in the past year and failed previously, but hey so much has changed over that year. And I’m still that 2012 girl jumping to Justice and melting while listening to Massive Attack, but I’m also the screaming one at Doechii and Linkin Park gigs. And I’m still beating everyone at foosball. In constant search for feelings and emotions in art, books, movies, conversations, I found everything I’d been longing for in @fkatwigs performance.
