Preparing this made me inseparable from my laptop for quite some time (even in the most stunning locations), so especially happy it’s here! 2 weeks ago our July/August issue dropped and it is fully dedicated to Schland and its style. I spoke to @shirindavid and @rachaelrodgers about the evolution of the former’s style, to the remarkable @christiana_bukalo and her super important work with @statefree.world, I met the soon-to-be-superstar @ameliehoeferle in Cannes and Munich within 5 days (and shot her with @eileenjordan), I had @mmmarckrause photograph some of the best places in Frankfurt (feeling very homesick now!) and spoke to the city’s new Tatort team. Also @shirinesione photographed the fabulous @tsellot and her parents in their Berlin home and @cash.miri spoke to them about their definition of Schlandiness, @valeriepraekelt reflected on the heritage of Bauhaus, @lucia.jost and @lenaelster__ explored the current European Cultural City of Chemnitz, @kathi.fuchsx spoke the the women’s national football team’s biggest stars, @philippwehsack explored grumpy German faces, @patrickpendiuk the best of German brands and of course @_kerstinweng took @billkaulitz to his home town together with @frederikehelwig and @nikipauls. 2024 was my year of saying yes to things so when in November my friend @studiowilliamfan asked me to walk his show I said yes on a whim. Little did I know that I was going to share the runway with legends such as @brucedarnell @wolfgang_bahro or @kirsten_landwehr and would meet so many friends backstage. Thanks a million to William and your fabulous team for this super fun and special experience, thanks for bringing the legend that is #annabellebronstein to life and congrats on 10 years in this loco industry. We met up in Munich on occasion of the local Warhol exhibition in @museumbrandhorst (where @simadehgani shot these beautiful pictures) and celebrated the screening of Tourmaline‘s movie “Happy Birthday, Marsha!“ and her upcoming biography of Marsha P. A few weeks back we went to a 19th century castle near Frankfurt to shoot the star that is @melodie_dinah (you all know her from @schwarzefruechte, one of the most watch-worthy German tv series of the year that finally illuminates Black and queer life in Schland from the inside out). At now 103, Margot Friedländer has a busier schedule than many of us, never getting tired to spread her message of humanity and love despite all that has happened to her 80 years ago. However, the declared fashion enthusiast has never really purchased any new clothing for all of her public appearances since leaving the US in 2010. That’s why @_kerstinweng and @malaikaraiss decided to gift her a custommade sparkling dress for her birhday. A few weeks ago, @malaikaland, @claranebeling, @rosalischaum, @junellma_ass and me visited Margot at home in Berlin for the final fittings – and she was SPARKLING.
