‘Remnant (boy)’ by Jack Pierson is included in our current exhibition in Aspen on view through August 2. Jack Pierson (b. 1960, Plymouth, MA) employs photography, collage, sculptural assemblage and installation in pursuit of love, longing, kinship, poetry, celebration, youth, fantasy and identity. His folded photographs and remnants operate somewhere between poster, print, and personal artifact—eschewing the preciousness of the traditional photograph in favor of something more intimate, democratic, and direct. For Pierson, this modest format challenges hierarchies of presentation and authorship, offering the image not as object of veneration, but as something closer to memory: fragile, reproducible, and touched. On display at The Ballery as part of the current exhibition "We Met in Summer" - until August 16th Hot Dogs at Sunset (2003) Miles at Sunset (2017) Jack Pierson (b. 1960) is an American artist known for his poetic photographs and text-based works that explore memory, desire, and queer identity. A key figure of the Boston School, his art captures intimate, sun-drenched moments with emotional depth. His photograph "Hot Dogs at Sunset" (2003) portrays a nostalgic, golden-hour scene, while "Miles at Sunset" (2017) features a solitary figure in fading light—both works evoke longing and the quiet beauty of twilight. @jackpierson9
