Fleeting Pieces (2025) Reclaimed fragments of garments that were once meant to be whole ✨ Honoured to be showing Fleeting Pieces (2025) at @photolondonfair — a fair I’ve long admired as a visitor. Huge thanks to @houseofbanditsstore by @sarabarande for their generous support in making this possible. This ongoing series explores the quiet, often overlooked world of fashion toiles, those ephemeral, raw prototypes that serve as the foundation for finished garments. Reclaimed from fashion studio’s bins, these fragments were once part of something meant to be whole. Dénuées d’artifice i.e devoid of embellishment, colour or polish , they resist the spectacle of fashion as commodity. In their monochrome simplicity, I see something grounding. Something powerful. Collected over the last two summers, these unfinished forms offer a different way of thinking about the body, inviting a loosely assembled, almost cobbled-together approach to how we dress and build around it. Pieces made for an arm or leg might find new roles, becoming synonymous with entirely different parts of the body. What if this aspect of making was more than a step towards perfection? What if these toiles held their own currency, their own beauty? What if valuing the process over the final refined product was not only an aesthetic shift, but an exciting and sustainable move?
