As the next major transformation of Ruth Campau’s Something In The Way We Move approaches at the turn of the year, preparations are well underway. These snapshots offer a glimpse into Ruth’s sketching process, where existing painted panels are mixed with new. Materials are being ordered, mounting plans drawn up, and logistical puzzle pieces set in motion — all while balancing the dynamic life of a busy construction site and the constant flow of daily travellers. It’s a complex choreography, where art and infrastructure evolve side by side. The current phase explores new artistic possibilities: for the first time, the work will unfold across two facing walls — creating a passage-like experience in multiple areas of the terminal. More glimpses from the making will follow as the next chapter of this evolving artwork begins to take shape. (See also our post from March 27 for a look at how past elements are reused sustainably.) Produced by Creator Projects and Copenhagen Airport in collaboration with Zeso Architects. @ruthcampau @copenhagenairport @zesoarchitects #SomethingInTheWayWeMove #CopenhagenAirport #PublicArt #ArtThatMoves #WorkInProgress
You’re invited into the glowing, surreal world of ‘DOLLHOUSE’, a solo exhibition by Danish artist Laura Julie Brage ( @aoaatelier ), curated by @effyedelsten . We hope to see you Thursday, September 11th from 5 to 7 PM for the opening at LOOK LOOK, Borgergade 17B. Brage’s installation of sculptural oil paintings and wooden objects invites viewers into shadowy interiors where sight is obscured, but imagination roams freely. ‘DOLLHOUSE’ draws on the nightly glow of a red light shining through the artist’s windows – transforming domestic surroundings into surreal stage sets, like a shady Narnia glimpsed through glass. Within this world, folding screens become portals; silhouettes morph into creatures; and familiar forms – rabbits, horses, butterflies – slip out of canvas and into sculptural form. Fifteen paintings unfold like pages in a story, a visual diary of parallel realities flickering just outside the edge of vision – a dollhouse inhabited by icons, instincts, and imagination. The exhibition will be on view 24/7 from the 11th of September throughout autumn. 📍LOOKLOOK is a window exhibition space by Creator Projects, curated by Efrat Edelsten, located at Borgergade 17B, Copenhagen. The art journey at TietgenSkolen continues 2025 started strong with the unveiling of Haegue Yang’s mesmerizing Chromatic Spiraling Knowledge, now gracefully suspended in the atrium of TietgenSkolen EUD & EUX. This beautiful and colourful work — reminiscent of window blinds — hangs in the centre of the school’s new building, visible from several floors. It’s a fitting symbol of knowledge and growth, perfectly reflecting the spirit of the school. Over the summer, a new installation by internationally acclaimed artist Iván Navarro was quietly installed. While we’re not quite ready to reveal all the details just yet, we’re incredibly excited that the artistic journey we’ve shared with TietgenSkolen in Odense is nearing its final chapter — though we admit, we’re a bit sad it’s almost over. But it’s not quite over yet. Enjoy these never-before-seen images of Haegue’s work by @r.damisch while you stay tuned for the unveiling of the fourth and final artwork at TietgenSkolen by Iván Navarro — coming very soon. @yanghaegue @eudeux.tietgenskolen #CreatorProjects #TietgenSkolen #HaegueYang #IvánNavarro #PublicArt #SiteSpecificArt #ArtInArchitecture #ContemporaryArt #ArtAndEducation #Odense #ArtInstallation #LearningEnvironment #ModernArt #ArtInPublicSpaces #ArtistTalks #VenetianBlindsArt #ChromaticSpiralingKnowledge
Last chance to catch OvalALL — our window exhibition by Rebecca Lajboschitz, curated by Efrat Edelsten. On view until September 5, this sculptural installation has quietly transformed our windows on Borgergade 17B throughout spring and summer. With fragile yet powerful ovals, Rebecca’s textile-based works have invited us to pause, wonder, and look again. We’ve truly enjoyed having this poetic presence with us these past months — thank you to everyone who stopped by, tagged us, or simply took a moment to reflect. Stay tuned — we’re already looking forward to revealing what’s next in our LOOKLOOK windows ✨ @leibo_hellohello @effyedelsten #OvalALL #RebeccaLajboschitz #WindowExhibition #PublicArt #LOOKLOOK #ContemporaryArt #CreatorProjects #ArtInTheCity
Something monumental is on the way... Both literally and figuratively. Massive stone blocks are being transported – the first visible signs of a new site-specific public artwork by the extraordinary Alicja Kwade. The full story is still a secret, but we couldn’t resist sharing a glimpse behind the scenes, as we’re beyond excited to follow both the creative process and the journey of these massive stone blocks. This is just the beginning. Can you guess what it might become? Stay tuned – more to come. #AlicjaKwade #PublicArt #SiteSpecificArt #CreatorProjects #ContemporaryArt #BehindTheScenes #SomethingIsComing #ArtInProgress #InTheMaking #GuessTheArt #ArtTransport #StonesOnTheMove @alicjakwade @pacegallery
We are proud and happy to present the art program we have developed for Frederiksberg Municipality! The program sets the framework for upcoming artworks at John Winthers Plads – the newly renovated square behind Frederiksberg City Hall, now transformed into a greener and more inviting public space. The purpose of the program is to inspire art that can create new opportunities for locals as well as visitors – across generations and cultures. It has been decided to invite two recognized, young Danish artists to create a site-specific artwork each in selected areas of the square. The works will respond to the square’s character, use, surroundings and to questions of our time. 🌿 The landscape of the square also plays an active part in the art program. Beneath the square are rainwater reservoirs, and Andebakkesøen (the pond) functions as a catchment area for rainwater from the surrounding neighborhoods – including overflow from Frederiksberg Garden. Climate, water, and urban nature are therefore possible thematic focal points for the upcoming works. 🏛 With the renewal, the area’s neighbors – Møstings Hus, Frederiksberg City Hall, and Café Svejk – will also have a new and more integrated role in the life and story of the square. 📍 John Winthers Square officially opened on June 7th, and the art program is now publicly available on Frederiksberg Municipality’s website. You can read much more about the considerations behind the upcoming artworks and where they might be placed – link in bio. We look forward to sharing more from the project as it unfolds. 💬 What do you hope will happen in the square? Summer vibes meet art — part 3 of 3: Transforming spaces. This summer, we’re concluding our series on (temporary) public art by celebrating places transformed — where industrial pasts meet creative futures. Spaces once dedicated to industry and production are being reimagined as vibrant cultural hubs, where art and community bring new life and inspiration. These creative districts are especially vibrant and inspiring to explore in the summer months. Take @musiconroskilde in Roskilde, for example — a district that has undergone an exciting transformation from concrete industry to a lively creative hub with art inside out. Inspired by music and its famous neighbor, @roskildefestival , Musicon now houses landmarks such as @museumragnarock , the Municipality’s Festival office, a Folk High School, @roskildefestivalhojskole diverse housing, vibrant commerce, and offices. It’s a space designed for new experiments and alternative communal areas. Creator Projects was proud to contribute in the early stages of this transformation og Musicon Roskilde. In collaboration with Mikkelsen Arkitekter we developed and executed workshops together with the users of Hall12 Skatepark, to get a better understanding of the needs and wishes for the transformation of the area. Similar transformations across the globe show how art reshapes urban landscapes: 🟡 Zeche Zollverein in Essen, Germany — a former coal mine turned museum and cultural center within stunning industrial architecture. @ruhrmuseum 🟡 Telliskivi Creative City in Tallinn, Estonia — a thriving creative hub full of galleries, studios, and cultural events in a repurposed industrial complex. @telliskivitln @telliskivi 🟡 Kaapelitehdas (Cable Factory) in Helsinki, Finland — once a cable factory, now a vibrant center for exhibitions, studios, and performances. Photo: EU / Karoliina Eerola @kaapelitehdas From factories to festivals, these spaces prove how art brings history to life — inviting discovery, connection, and creativity. #ArtInTransformation #CreativeDistricts #PublicArt #CreatorProjects #UrbanRevitalization #TemporaryArt #CulturalSpaces #IndustrialHeritage #CPSummerHighlight #ArtAndCommunity
Summer vibes meet art — part 2 of 3: Art on water. This summer, we’re sharing a three-part series on temporary public art projects with a summer feeling — this time, we’re drifting onto water. 🌊 Summer often means beaching, sailing, or swimming. From rivers and harbours to lakes and coastlines, water has long inspired artists — offering reflection, symbolism, and movement. One such project is Sea Untitled by @lulukaalund2 , part of Creator Projects’ Exhibition programme. In August 2023, Soho House Copenhagen partnered with Creator Projects to mark their one-year anniversary by presenting this temporary installation, docked in front of the House. Presented by @v1gallery , the work featured a traditional wooden boat wrapped in Lulu’s signature crocheted textiles — bringing vibrant colour and texture to the water, and paying tribute to Denmark’s deep connection to the sea. Floating on water, Lulu’s installation is one of many other remarkable projects worldwide: 🟡 The Floating Piers by Christo and Jeanne-Claude — a temporary, walkable installation on Lake Iseo in Italy (2016) (photo credit: ritzau) @christojeanneclaude 🟡 She Lies by Monica Bonvicini — a rotating sculpture on water in Oslo, reflecting the changing light and sea (since 2010) (Photo by Jorge Franganillo) @studiomonicabonvicini 🟡 Floating Museum in Chicago (US) — a mobile art platform bringing exhibitions and performances to rivers and shorelines (ongoing; image from 2017) (Photo credit: Vocalo) @thefloatingmuseum From harbours to lakes to riverbanks — art on water shifts our perspective and brings us closer to our surroundings. Wishing you a soft, reflective summer — wherever you’re floating. @sohohouse #ArtOnWater #PublicArt #CreatorProjects #LuluKaalund #TemporaryArt #CrochetArt #ContemporaryArt #SohoHouseCopenhagen #FloatingArt #CPSummerHighlight
Summer vibes meet art — part 1 of 3, Art in transit places. This summer, we’re sharing a three-part series on temporary public art with a summer vibe — starting in transit spaces. “To travel is to live,” as the Danish author Hans Christian Andersen once said. As summer unfolds, we move through airports, train stations, and terminals — spaces filled with anticipation, waiting, and transition. But what if those in-between moments were just as rich as the destinations themselves? We’re proud to have worked with @ruthcampau on her temporary artwork at @copenhagenairport — a project we believe beautifully fulfils that hope. Her vivid, translucent textile installation fills the departures area with colour and presence. Commissioned and produced by us at Creator Projects, the work transforms the space into one of calm, movement, and contemplation. Ruth’s piece is just one example. Here are a few more inspiring past and present projects from transit spaces around the world: 🟡 Slide 3: New Dutch Horizons at Schiphol Airport (NL) — a 200m temporary art wall transforming a construction site (no longer on view) (photo credit Shiphol Airport) 🟡 Slide 4: Piano installation by Alex Cerutti, part of Mirror Mirror at San Diego Airport (US) — part sculpture, part sound, part surprise (on view through 2025) (Photo credit San Diego Airport) 🟡 Slide 5: Forest Dream by Ellen Bornkessel at Neumarkt U-Bahn, Cologne (DE) — photographic nature scenes in an underground transit zone (2021, no longer on view)(photo credit Ellen Bornkessel) Whether by plane, train, or foot — art helps us see our journeys differently. The sculpture — a future landmark for Esbjerg Harbour — is taking shape, but its final form remains a mystery 🔮 What do you think it might become? Have you seen any memorable harbour sculptures? Share your thoughts! This September, Esbjerg Harbour will become home to a new permanent landmark by Kuwaiti artist Monira Al Qadiri — her largest public work to date, and her first in Europe. These new images from the Madrid workshop offer subtle clues… Surfaces shimmer. Fragments align. But the full story is still unfolding. We look forward to revealing more in due time. Until then — thank you for following the journey. One Two Three Swing! is now open to the public in front of the European Parliament. Commissioned and curated by The Artists’ Parliament and Creator Projects, this major new installation by SUPERFLEX transforms the Esplanade Solidarność into an engaging space for reflection, connection, and collective action — on the occasion of Denmark’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Designed in a unique circular formation, One Two Three Swing! invites people to sit, contemplate, gather, and come face to face with others — including those you don’t necessarily agree with. The shared experience offered by the work may trigger reflections on broader issues such as democracy, collective action, and social connectivity. The artwork will remain on view throughout Denmark’s EU presidency, from July to December 2025. One Two Three Swing! (2025) by @superflexstudio. 🏆 We have a winner! Doug Aitken and BIG have been selected as the winners of Byens Scene — a public art and architecture competition reimagining the plazas around DR Koncerthuset, Bella Arena and Royal Arena in Ørestad. These three iconic venues form the largest concert area in the Nordics and draw thousands of visitors every year. Byens Scene brings a new, artistic layer to these cultural spaces — where public space becomes art, and art becomes public space. As curatorial advisors to the competition, we at Creator Projects are proud to have helped shape the ambition and guide the artistic vision behind this groundbreaking collaboration. The Impact — created by Aitken and BIG, with Niras, Volcano and RWDI — proposes a poetic, sustainable transformation of Ørestad’s public realm: cutting through the surface to reveal light, water, vegetation and possibility. 💥 Congratulations to the team — and to the future of Ørestad’s cultural landscape! 📸 @playtime.barcelona, @pingpong.space and @big_builds Supported by: Danmarks Radio, Bellagroup, Bellakvarter, Live Nation, By & Havn, Field’s / Steen & Strøm, Metroselskabet, ØICC — with funding from By & Havn, the City of Copenhagen and DR, and philanthropic support from Realdania.
