18.01LONDON & BEYOND NOISE Welcoming September with a look back at our recent video and photo shoot with @beyondnoise. Our founders, Dean & Cristina, spoke to Managing Editor @nicoledemarco about how our archive grew to over 30,000 pieces - and how we craft bespoke research experiences for every design team. Captured on set by @niko_studio, our creative response to the Beyond Noise brief reflects exactly how we work: curating hundreds of pieces tailored to each brand’s identity and season. Our reference library is growing by the day, and since every project begins with a moodboard, it only made sense to build a library to match. We’re now the proud custodians of a complete set of The Manipulator @themanipulatormagazine - a magazine published between 1984 and 1994 by artists Wilhelm Moser and David Colby. Extra-large in format, poster-like in scale, it's best appreciated in person, and is a reference we are so inspired by at 18.01LONDON. Looking back at our shoot with Beyond Noise: @niko_studio captured @xie.chaoyu in our studio holding Issue Six from 1986. Swipe to see some of our favourite spreads from the magazine, photographed in our space, alongside a striking image of the Studio Babelsberg exclusive issue by @andreaslange (created for an exhibition in Berlin in February 2008), plus a rare portrait of the magazine’s founders. To view The Manipulator in person, please email us at info @1801london.com - scans upon request.
BEYOND NOISE As part of The Oracle series by @beyondnoise, founders Dean & Cristina of 18.01LONDON were invited to speak with Managing Editor @nicoledemarco, sharing the story of how the archive came to life - and how it has grown into a collection of over 30,000 inspirational pieces. They also offered insight into how we approach client work, bringing each vision to life through thoughtful research and curation. On set, @niko_studio captured our creative response to the Beyond Noise brief - just as we do for every client who steps into the archive. For each appointment, we call in hundreds of pieces, each one carefully selected to align with the brand’s DNA and seasonal direction - ensuring a completely bespoke research experience every time.
