Everyone at the All England Club was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Kent. The Duchess was a long-standing supporter of the All England Club and The Championships, presenting the ladies' singles trophies for many years. The compassion she showed when comforting Jana Novotna after her ladies' singles final defeat in 1993 remains one of the most memorable moments at The Championships. So too the occasion in 1998 when The Duchess was able to present Novotna with the Venus Rosewater Dish after she became ladies' singles champion. We send our condolences to His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent, his children, grandchildren and members of the Royal Family.
