Furniture humanises interior spaces. Seating – in its many forms and textures – invites us to linger and encourages moments of contemplation and connection. These are the thoughts of @flexformspa designer Antonio Citterio, who envisioned the organic contours of the ‘Loungescape’ seating system, creating versatile and changeable, topographic pieces that help shape a home’s interior, becoming a focal point and offering new perspectives on comfort and beauty. The October 2025 issue of Wallpaper is a celebration of the long read: three hundred pages dedicated to stories that demand the depth and clarity of print. We visit Le Corbusier’s Unité d’Habitation in Marseille to hear how its residents live with brutalism every day. We meet Craig Green in his London atelier and Irma Boom in her studio, both pushing the boundaries of what creative practice can mean. We travel to Lagos and Tbilisi, cities of resistance and reinvention, where the spirit of design is shaping culture at large. On stands now: an issue dedicated to the enduring power of words, images, and ideas on paper. Arbiter of elegance and icon of Italian style, Giorgio Armani has passed away today, it has been announced by his eponymous house. He was 91 years old. ‘In this company, we have always felt like part of a family. Today, with deep emotion, we feel the void left by the one who founded and nurtured this family with vision, passion, and dedication. But it is precisely in his spirit that we, the employees and the family members who have always worked alongside Mr Armani, commit to protecting what he built and to carrying his company forward in his memory, with respect, responsibility, and love,’ his colleagues said in a joint statement. At Wallpaper*, we remember his guest editorship of the October 2022 issue, the culmination of a longstanding relationship between the designer and the magazine. A conversation with Paul Smith, as part of the issue, captured his indomitable creative spirit. ‘When I was younger, I thought that, by my eighties, I would be on permanent vacation, but the work is so exciting, so energising, I really cannot let it go,’ he said. Mr Armani’s funeral chamber will be set up from 6-7 September in Milan at the Armani/Teatro. A private funeral will follow. 📷: Giorgio Armani at the Armani/Silos exhibition space in 2015 from the Wallpaper* October 2022 issue, photographed by Pierpaolo Ferrari
‘Intrecci•Intertwinings’, on view until 14 September 2025, features contemporary designs made from materials and techniques from the Salento region. Organised by the municipality of Salve and Maria Elena Perrotta, the exhibition is co-curated by design specialists Valentina Rito and Giacomo Niccolai. The former Capuchin monastery, surrounded by cypress trees on the outskirts of Salve, is ‘an active participant in the narrative’ of the exhibition, Rito adds. ‘Its architecture, original frescoes, untouched rooms full of memory – all of this deeply informed how the works are displayed and how they are read.’ The choices of designers and artisans for the show responded to the three chosen themes. ‘We were looking for people with a deep understanding of processes and materials, who could fully embrace the exhibition’s exploration of heritage, both in terms of craft and the use of local resources,’ says Rito. ‘Intrecci•Intertwinings’ takes place at the Former Monastery of Capuchins, Salve, Italy, 31 August to 14 September 2025. In collaboration with Cadogan, Wallpaper* unveils a film to encapsulate a culturally significant moment for King’s Road: The Gaumont’s new ‘creative quarter’. The development has been designed to include a rooftop bar, a cinema, pub theatre and a record store, alongside retail, office and residential space. Alongside this, artist Shezad Dawood’s “Cascade” comprising two, six metre high, hand-sculpted ceramics with multicoloured glazes serves as the building’s artistic beacon and creative anchor. “The tiles on the artwork are relief sculpted,” explains Dawood. “So they have a sort of a two dimensionality… and then a three dimensionality. In the daytime, as the sun travels through the arc of the sky, over the theatre, the artwork behaves like an organic sundial.” You can now watch the full video online at the link in bio. 📹: @fitzbrien Galleries: @jhavericontemporary @barakat_contemporary Curated by: @futurecity_culture

It's easy to be hypnotised by the work of Los Angeles-based artist Lily Clark ( @lilyyill) whose minimalist fountains and installations explore the sublime qualities of water. Intrigued by it's physicality, Clark designs physical structures that enables water to dance in meditative choreographies that we could stare at for hours. 📹: Courtesy of Lily Clark ( @lilyyill)
‘A garden has to be imperfect, intuitive, instinctive,’ says Brazilian landscape architect Rodrigo Oliveira ( @rodrigooliveira_paisagismo) who Wallpaper* had the pleasure of speaking to. In his 30 year career, Oliveira has perfected the perfect harmony between built form and nature by embracing what he calls the ‘irregularity’ of natural systems . Rather than imposing order on the landscape, he creates gardens that appear as if nothing was deliberately done there, yet evolve beautifully over time while requiring minimal maintenance. The journey to this mindset began in Oliveira's hometown of Paraná in southern Brazil, where gardens were an intrinsic part of his childhood, and something he used to enjoy taking care of in all the houses they lived in growing up. Oliveira studied agronomy at the Federal University of Viçosa, graduating in 1993. He established his independent practice, Rodrigo Oliveira Paisagismo in 2005 and is today one of Brazil’s most respected landscape practices. There are many features of @glenn.sestig’s 1972 brutalist home we love but perhaps our favourite is the built-in Sol LeWitt pencil drawing covering one of its walls. In 1973, the house’s original owners, an art collector couple, invited the American artist to adorn the walls of the house with a massive wall drawing consisting of a minimal grid of concentric circles. Discover the full house and its unique art collection in our latest episode of The Stuff That Surrounds at the link in bio.
