Today, #HarryWinston isn’t the first name that comes to mind when discussing watchmaking. But it is a name that is sure to be mentioned when talking about the rise of artisanal independent watchmaking that forged the scene we know and love today. How is it that an American jewellery brand, known around the world as the “King of Diamonds”, had a part to play in the popularisation of independent watchmaking? We discuss the genesis, innovations, and collectibility of early Harry Winston watches with five owners from the club. @thenormansinvasion @hosanxiv @tom.chng @swisswatchgang @jiahui__tan Link in bio. #SingaporeWatchClub

The Breguet Tradition creations are inspired by the mythical subscription and touch watches designed by A.-L. Breguet. They offer a bird’s-eye view of the movement, to the delight of mechanical watchmaking enthusiasts. When admiring their watch, the owner of a Tradition will have the same view as a watchmaker does of the movement while working on the creation. #SingaporeWatchClub

At the turn of the millennium, #HarryWinston quietly became one of the most important catalysts for the rise of independent watchmaking. By inviting bold talents such as #RogerDubuis, #JeanMarcWiederrecht, #PeterSpeakeMarin, and a young @MaxBusser into its orbit, the jeweller transformed its watch division into a breeding ground for creativity. Beyond its own Premier and Avenue lines, the maison became a stage where previously little-known artisans could showcase daring complications, novel displays, and artisanal finishing. The now-legendary Opus series was only the most visible expression of this spirit, part of a wider culture at Harry Winston that legitimised experimentation and gave independent voices the global recognition they had long lacked. Stay tuned for our full feature later this week, where we explore five extraordinary early Harry Winston watches through the eyes of their collectors. #SingaporeWatchClub

If you know, you know. 🤙 The quirky Tank Asymétrique from our 2021 club edition with Cartier: a set of 18 unique creations. On this lozenge shaped watch, “VI” sits squarely at the corner. The Roman numeral for 6 is also oriented upright unlike typical Asymétrique examples, giving prominence to the club’s 6th anniversary without unnecessary pageantry. #SingaporeWatchClub

Always a dilemma whether to wear this on the front or the back… 🤔 The @MontresBreguet #LaTradition ref. #7037 features an openworked movement with the barrel at the centre of it all — its gear train, escapement, and dial neatly surrounding the power source. Most interestingly, this ref. features a retrograde seconds display found on the left side of the dial, and also an automatic movement with a hand-hammered and engraved rotor. #VintageAP #SingaporeWatchClub
