Curating the "Your Loss" exhibition was one of the most meaningful projects in my career so far. Together with @herclique gallery’s founder, @izabela.depczyk , we brought together eleven remarkable artists whose voices shaped the essence of the show: Inma Barrero @inmabarrero.art Zuzanna Bartoszek @zuzannabartoszek Maryna Brodovska @marynabrodovska Monika Chlebek @monikachlebek Judith Eisler @juditheisler Anna Orłowska @anna_orlowska Hania Rani @haniarani Irinka Talakhadze @irinka.tal Noelia Towers @noeliatowers Aleksandra Waliszewska @aleksandrawaliszewska Karolina Żądło @k.zadlo I still can’t believe that all of these amazing artists agreed to participate in our show. I’m forever grateful to Iza for giving me a chance to tell this story, guiding me throughout the process and to all the artists for making it real, intimate, beautiful and relevant. I was given the privilege of shaping the show’s theme. With several ideas in mind, from floral decay to faking orgasms, we ultimately chose to tell a story about loss. Loss can be as personal as it is universal, and that’s what makes it so compelling. Reflecting on motifs of grief and transformation, my wish was not to define or romanticize loss, but to show that feeling hurt doesn’t make us weak - it makes us human (especially in the world we know today where feeling sad or pain is not comfortable for the ones around - is not attractive, it’s almost not acceptable). Different on many levels, yet sharing one quality: art directing and art curating are acts of storytelling from the back seat, where vision guides without needing the spotlight. Working on this exhibition, I’ve learned so much but I’ve also realized how much there is still left for me to explore. That realization keeps me curious, it keeps me awake. I dedicate ‘Your Loss’ to my beloved brother, who is no longer with us. Who knew that curating art could carry such a therapeutic undertone🤍
