Charged with the exuberance of girlhood, the cast of the showâamongst which are Jerry Hall, Apollonia van Ravenstein, Dalma Callado, Alva Chinn and Kirat Youngâready for their debut. In these days, makeup was self-applied, and an air of warmth and familiarity spurs endless laughter as the models and team dance with abandon. Spring 1992: Plaid patchwork 30 years after its runway debut, Spring 1992âs patchwork plaid print returned in new form for Pre-Fall 2022. The reissue by Co-Creative Directors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia pays homage to the trademark motif, originally donned by @lindaevangelista, @naomi and @yasmeenghauri. The story is grounded in a graphic patchwork of aster, dandelion and sienna, showcased in tiered skirts, off-shoulder silhouettes and signature ruffles. Designed to captivate in joyful color, the motif endures for the evolving Oscar woman. Spring 1992: Embroidered Pineapple For Oscar de la Renta Spring 1992, the pineapple motif shimmers in mimetic embroideries debuted by @lindaevangelista and @naomi. The tropical emblemâs Pre-Fall 2021 reprise by Co-Creative Directors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia is reimagined in color-bright prints, and a tweed shift dress with crystal embroidered pineapples calls back to the archival silhouette donned by Linda Evangelista. Then and now, the pineapple celebrates the Houseâs enduring love of the Caribbean and playful elegance. Spring 1992: Embroidered Parrots In a celebration of the Caribbean, the Oscar de la Renta Spring 1992 show debuted a group of embroidered parrot jackets, characterized by a textural, color-bright and organic mélange of intricate thread work, sequins and beads. Caribbean blue and magenta feathers, thread work and crystal embroideries grace complementing jackets and skirts. Lime, emerald, scarlet, and sunflower convene to tell a design story seeped in the essence of the tropics. Commissioned by Beatrice Lodge, daughter of the American Ambassador to Spain, for her coming-out ball, Oscar de la Rentaâs debut design was an architectural ballgown â bodice draped in satin with a tiered skirt of tulle. In the decades since 1956, Oscarâs love of dressing women infused femininity and the essence of couture into reigning House codes.
