How to land yourself on a @nike tee with one volcanic photo shoot 🌋📸 taken years back with @karl_shakur with no real plan in mind other than scaling the active volcanoes of Mount Bromo and taking as many photos as we could on top of the rim. I posted a photo from the shoot in my feed and months went by, until one day I got an email from someone at Nike with a full proposal deal to use my photo on one of their shirts. You never know where your photos are going to end up, it’s all about the right eyes coming across your work.

I was always fascinated by the way golden hour seems like you’re on a completely different planet during thick wildfire seasons. The way you can look directly at the sun while it’s still fairly high on the horizon, sometimes even able to make out little sun spots floating on the surface that look like black specs among the glowing red giant. Although the fires can be quite destructive and headache inducing being downwind of it, I can’t help but to find the unique beauty in even these events and moments.

lightning ⚡️ unpredictable, powerful, and deadly. Almost 3x more deadly than tornadoes. Although lightning is one of my few real fears and greatest immediate danger I encounter aside from other drivers on the road, I still find myself helpless against the temptation of capturing it when I find myself within view of bolts. Especially when you see things in your photos like you could never see with your naked eye.
