Lisa has quietly become the most unlikely, yet deeply sincere, ambassador of Pop Mart’s mischievously grinning plush toy. “I would love to do a collaboration with Labubu,” she tells Hans Ulrich Obrist. Her embrace of the toy tapped into something collective: Labubu, once a niche collectable, now defines a moment. “They’ve become so popular that I can’t even get them any more – it’s so sad.” Read the interview at the link in bio. What drives Lisa’s rise, beyond the flashbulbs and record-breaking streams, is a work ethic so exacting it has become part of her mythology. Trained in Seoul’s rigorous K-pop system from her early teens, she absorbed its relentless discipline and adopted a near-monastic devotion to her craft – an offering echoed by her fans. “Even when I’m on stage, I can see how they react,” she reflects. “They scream out loud, they sing with me. I would not be here today without them.” Read the interview at the link in bio. In February Lisa – a veritable multihyphenate of music, fashion and screen – made her acting debut as Mook in HBO’s third season of The White Lotus, which has opened a new chapter for the star. “I want to learn from everything I watch – it would be cool to do an action movie,” Lisa says. When Lisa embarked on her solo journey in September 2021 with the release of Lalisa – a single album led by the title track Lalisa and its B-side Money – she took her career to new heights. Lalisa immediately broke YouTube records for a solo artist and debuted at number two on the Billboard Global 200, while Money followed as her longest-charting solo track, eventually becoming the first K-pop song by a soloist to reach one billion streams on Spotify. Four years later, in February this year, she released her full-length debut album Alter Ego, a 15-track manifesto of reinvention crafted with collaborators like Max Martin, Rosalía, Doja Cat, and Megan Thee Stallion. “I am particularly proud of Alter Ego – the whole album. I worked on it for over a year while working on The White Lotus, so it was a big year.” Read the interview at the link in bio. Lisa, born Lalisa Manobal in Thailand, has emerged as one of contemporary pop’s most magnetic figures. As the main dancer and rapper of K-pop phenomenon Blackpink, she sharpened a persona that marries ferocity with charm, her clipped flow and knife-edge choreography instantly recognisable across continents. “The name Blackpink?” she reflects in conversation with Hans Ulrich Obrist. “We’re girls and we can be cute and girly but we can also be a little fierce sometimes. Then we came up with Blackpink. We thought it was really us and that it showed our true colours.” Read the interview at the link in bio. “You die a little when you emigrate. The person that you were no longer exists,” says @martha_mydear. Assembled with the warmth of a family album, Small Death is a work of unusual beauty. It maps a fragmented, ten-year journey through the artist’s years living in the States, painstakingly selected from an archive of over 500 rolls of film. It grapples with various themes central to Sandoval’s life in this period, but the overarching question it bravely asks is: does a version of you die when you move to a new place? At the link in bio, the artist speaks to @orlabeee about expressing love through image-making, the slippery nature of identity and the physicality of being a woman with a bigger body 📲 📸 @martha_mydear, from Small Death ( @mack_publishing, 2025). Premiering at Venice Film Festival, Benny Safdie’s first solo movie – starring Dwayne Johnson as UFC fighter Mark Kerr – is a surprising departure from his previous work. “Safdie’s debut solo feature may be drawn to the same murky worlds as he pursued with his brother, but there is light at the end of the tunnel, at least for Mark Kerr,” writes @billierwalker. “Whether fatalistic cinema is a thing of Benny Safdie’s past in favour of more optimistic, albeit conventional dramas, it is too soon to tell.” Read the review at the link in bio 📲 📸/🎥 The Smashing Machine, 2025
