After the rains. Aite a lot of damaged dahlias, and petunias which I was hoping would last and keep spreading for another month, now appear to be over. The watering was needed but at this time of year when the plants are at their full growth, they are so vulnerable from heavy wind and rain. I’m hope for some recovery and an Indian summer so fingers crossed.

The last week of August is always tinged with a taste of sadness, as it’s coincidentally the time of year I lost 2 very strong women who were great influences in my life. Diana 28 years ago and my mum 4 years ago. But I have very happy and funny memories of both, and in the end the memories are all we have. Make the most of it folks, enjoy every minute like it might be your last.
